Abstract:
The article presents construction of the Mid-Life Transition Questionnaire (MTQ). Out of the original pool of 170 statements, 60 items were qualified to the trial tests based on statement content analysis and evaluation of competent judges. The preliminary version of the questionnaire was administered to 431 people aged 35-55. Based on the received results, three factors were selected, reliability of the subscales specified, theoretical accuracy described and the final version of the questionnaire agreed upon. 188 people aged 35-55 participated in the second part of the study. In this group, stability of test results was estimated after two weeks. In order to check the validity of MTQ three questionnaires were used: Life Attitude Profile Revised; Positivity Scale, Subjective Happiness Scale and Life Engagement Test. Internal consistency ranged between 0.73 and 0.87, and stability between 0.77 and 0.84. It was concluded that the questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool. The final version of the questionnaire has 36 items and three scales: Positive Life Inventory, Aggravation of Crisis, Overestimation. There is one version both for women and men. The MTQ may be used in research and as a diagnostic tool.
