Abstract:
The paper presents a review of research carried out in years 1995-2011 on dysfunctional use of Internet. Theories that explain the phenomenon of dysfunctional Internet use were discussed. Dysfunctional use of Internet is planned to be included in the subsequent classification of diseases DSM-5. There were discussed clinical symptoms of Internet addiction, diagnostic criteria, relationships with other disorders, biological and psychosocial factors affecting Internet addiction. In addition, there were described psychometric characteristics of some measures diagnostic of dysfunctional Internet use.
