Abstract:
In our commentary, we consider the cognitive mechanism of agents or recipients perspective taking in social perception. On the one hand, in the light of the theory, it is possible that taking one of the perspectives just leads to automatic activisation of different content categories (agency or communion), processed in a unitary way. On the other hand, it is also possible that taking one perspective – agent or recipient – sets processes in motion that are differently characterised by cognitive and motivational parameters. This second option seems to be a very interesting avenue of research.
Keywords: information processing, activation of content categories, agent or recipient mode of mind functioning
