Abstract:
The paper introduces the issue of application in social psychology of experimental tools and theoretical constructs stemming from related subdomains of experimental psychology. The specificity of this trend, its benefits and its limitations are described. The examples of psychological knowledge integration presented in subsequent sections of the special issue are introduced. Two potential limitations of knowledge integration are characterized: narrowing the methods of investigation to specific paradigms or theoretical perspectives and the reduction of social phenomena to basic perspectives of elementary psychological phenomena. Some ideas for the smart integration of knowledge that reduces the abovementioned limitations are proposed.
Keywords: social psychology, methodology of social research, psychological knowledge integration.
